Jessica looked up at the time: 11pm. How did that happen? She'd just signed on to check a few of her favorite blogs -- and Facebook for a bit -- but now it’s three hours later. There goes the evening; no time to read that new book now. Just like the day before, and before that, and...
A week later, it’s a different story.
Having heard about Nudge from a friend, she gave it a shot. She dragged all the site categories she spent too much time on (social media, news, entertainment, shopping, and food blogs) into a group she named Addictions, and set a maximum time of ninety minutes per day for the whole group.
Whenever she’s on one of the sites, a colored bar at the top of her screen shows how long she’s spent on Addictions that day. As it slowly slides across, it turns from green, to yellow, to red, until a thick red bar nudges her to wrap it up.
Now it’s Saturday, and Jessica’s in the park -- reading her book.
